Atif currently works to reduce health inequalities in Birmingham. He volunteers his time on several boards across the arts & culture, housing and grant-making sector. Having become a young carer, at the age of 13, from a working-class background, he is keen to support young people from underrepresented backgrounds to ensure they have the space to be heard. One of his most favourite quotes is ‘we rise by lifting others’, to that effect, he was awarded a British Empire Medal in the 2021 Queens Birthday Honours list; ‘for services to the Community in Birmingham during Covid19’. He is looking forward to setting up and leading the youth advisory group at Big Change.
