Step outside your comfort zone and Strive for Big Change

Strive is a movement. It’s a movement of people taking action for change. People who want to challenge themselves, connect with a values-aligned network and create a better future for young people by supporting Big Change.

Strive is part of our DNA, with our founders launching Big Change after running the 2010 London Marathon tied together as a giant caterpillar with 34 friends!

Every pound raised from these events goes directly to supporting our projects. These, in turn, are helping ensure that all young people are set up to thrive.

The Strive philosophy: growth happens when you step outside of your comfort zone; magic happens when you do it alongside others.

The Strive story

Nearly 1,000 amazing participants have joined us so far, raising more than £5m for Big Change. The first official Strive Challenge event took place in 2014. This saw a core team of 12 travel from London to the summit of the Matterhorn, entirely under human power.

See where we’ve been and what we’ve achieved so far:

“Strive is a movement. A movement of people taking action for change; by challenging themselves, connecting with a values-aligned network and creating a better future for young people through Big Change.”

The Strive Weekender

Take part in Big Change’s annual event: a gruelling but enriching two-day run/walk. This might sound daunting but trust us… the Weekender is accessible to all, and everyone crosses the finish line with the biggest smiles on their faces.

“If you want to get a taster for what Strive is all about, there’s no better way than the Weekender.”

Robert Devereux
Big Change supporter

Virtual Strive Weekender

Can’t make our in person event? You can now join us from all corners of the world.

Our virtual challenge will take place over the first three weekends of July (3rd -18th), with each striver journeying 100km by any human-powered means, in as many sections as you choose.

You could cycle 100km in one go, run it over a weekend, or do 10 x 10km with 10 different disciplines. You get the idea!

“Strive last year was such an integral part of our lockdown and really gave us all something to work towards (and kept us sane.) I’m so glad there’s another virtual one.”

I Strive

Striving isn’t reserved for our official Strive events – you can step outside your comfort zone by joining a public event on behalf of Big Change or creating your own challenge. This could be anything from a 5k run or sports day to an open mic night with your friends and family. Whatever you choose, we’ll support you throughout by providing event advice, fundraising help and useful connections.

Our Toolkit has everything you need to start striving for Big Change. But you’ll need to confirm you agree to Strive’s terms and conditions.
