Climate Courage, Climate Live - Spark Award Changemaker
Climate Courage, Climate Live, led by Frances Fox, aged 24, and the Climate Live team, is addressing a growing mental health crisis driven by climate anxiety.
What we did:
- Big Change awarded Climate Courage, Climate Live a Spark Award in 2025, providing funding and mentoring to help expand their reach and impact.
- Our support will enable the project to deliver peer-led climate workshops, equipping young people with the skills and confidence to take action on the issues that matter most to them.
- We are backing the co-creation of resources and partnerships with grassroots organisations, ensuring the climate movement is rooted in justice, equity, and youth leadership.
The Spark
Climate Courage, Climate Live was co-created by a team of young climate leaders, including Frances Fox, Rachel Kiki Tabizel, Anais Daly-Gourdialsing, and Tanya Haldipur, who witnessed the emotional toll of activism firsthand. Building on the legacy of Climate Live, a music-driven movement, they aim to make climate activism more welcoming and human. Their collective experience and vision are the foundation of Climate Courage, Climate Live, which has already hosted over 300 events and reached more than 63,000 young people.
A 2021 Lancet study found that 75% of young people believe the future is frightening due to climate change, and 45% say their climate-related emotions negatively affect their daily lives. Despite this, mental health solutions are largely absent from climate strategies and funding. This gap jeopardises both the well-being of young people and the longevity of the climate movement.
Young people are carrying the emotional weight of the climate crisis, but mental health support is still missing from most climate strategies. Without space to process, connect, and heal, we risk losing a generation of climate leaders before they’ve even begun. Climate Courage fills this gap by creating joyful, creative, peer-led spaces where young people can turn anxiety into action and build the emotional resilience to keep going.

The impact
Climate Courage, Climate Live aims to build a more inclusive and emotionally sustainable climate movement. Through free workshops, a Train-the-Trainer programme, and creative events and activities, the initiative will equip over 600 young people with tools to process climate emotions, build confidence, and take meaningful action. By working with 20 grassroots organisations, the project will foster local leadership and reach youth who feel overwhelmed or excluded.
Participants will join a long-term, peer-led Community of Care for ongoing support, while an open-source curriculum will ensure the project’s sustainability and broad reach. The goal is to help young people find community, voice, and purpose, ensuring they have the emotional resilience to continue their vital work.
